Either way works imho; I was books first then videos. There are deeper cuts in the books, especially with world-building, which I think prepped me to enjoy seeing the visual presentation later. OTOH, if you are a film buff, you'll dig the sets & special effects and might want to go videos first.
I’ve struggled with the show. I kept saying it’s the show I can’t stop watching even though I’m not invested in a single character. And then I read the books in the 7 8 9 1 2 3 4 5 6 order and absolutely loved them! The books are fantastic!
I watched one episode and then read the first Expanse book in the series. I loved it. There were things like living along the inner surfaces of a hollow, rotating asteroid described in physics terms that I think get lost with the film. adaption. Most physics-y scifi I've read to date
