holy fuck my parents nearly got scammed by one of those AI voice calls today. They used MY VOICE TO MAKE MY PARENTS THINK I ACCIDENTALLY KILLED TWO PEOPLE WITH MY CAR AND THAT THEY NEEDED TO PAY MY BAIL

A streamer I watch actually has a thing with his bank where they cannot do any actions on his account unless he comes in himself. It's in writing too. So if they do anything without him being present, they're liable. I guess.... uhhh good tip?

I was invited to do a video podcast interview which had a contract involved for rights to the interview in video and audio form. I asked for an update to the contract to ensure it wouldn’t ever be used for AI or Learned Language Model training. They ghosted me.

Yeah I've straight up had a conversation with my parents that if they hear anyone who is claiming or sounds like me or a relative asking for money to just hang up, and call the person to confirm.

Assume it's a scam, not a genuine plea for help.

In case a journalist is interested. I am pretty sure Kaiser sells patient information to unscrupulous predators. I had lots of circumstantial evidence of this back then. Today, I LOVE Kaiser medical care, convenience, locations etc. but am still getting sketchy contacts that I connect to them.

I think any of us who have been on skype or Zoom or other video chats should worry. Luckily my Mom is not a typical Silent Gen person. She's 78 and learned how to use an Apple Watch. Alexa and iPad with great dexterity.
