In Wisconsin, a Class I felony carries a maximum penalty of 3.5 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

A fine would mean nothing. He's got to do jail time.

Here's what I don't get: The law forbids *offering* something of value to induce someone to vote. Musk has already done that. Withdrawing the offer after the fact doesn't un-cast the votes it bought. So why is the state still treating it as an *attempt* to violate the law?

if it's a felony crime with a lot of witnesses, why is an indictment needed? If a robbery was witnessed, the police could arrest the individual without an indictment.
