By breaking the system down into simplified models and pinpointing the biggest areas of concern, we can identify how to best survive, influence and reform the system we live in, without relying on governments or private companies.

Directly attempting to make changes inside the tangled web of power and influence is nearly impossible, but we don't have to directly interact with the corrupted part of the system to change it.

I love how you visualized and framed this. It’s easy to get lost trying to unravel that tangled “corrupted web” but reinforcing local/community-owned systems that have been displaced or weakened or persist is such an IMPORTANT way to tangibly support action and transformation!

By building community-owned infrastructure, we're not only preparing for a potential collapse of the system by ensuring we have critical life-sustaining services in our communities, we're actively weakening the compromised system, severing connections and encouraging change.

There is a reason we can't rely on good, ethical private businesses to enact the change we want to see.

Every business will face challenges, and somewhere along the way, compromises have to be made, or it will be rejected by the system.

Putting your energy into providing good ideas for the system results in them being twisted and turned into something more acceptable.

People like to talk about conspiracy theories, but the system will do this all by itself through our collective understanding of what is normal, and what's a risk.

While a community-owned economy would function in many of the same ways, the key difference lies at the centre. Finance has become the dominant force in capitalism, with people serving as a tool to enable finance's needs.

Community-owned projects put people at the heart of everything.
