Can you imagine what the world would look like if we spent the same on actively nurturing international relations as we currently do on the military?

It’s time for a real alternative. Help us build it! greensorganise.uk

Remember to vote πŸ’š

Part of the reason an individualistic society doesn't work is that you lose all the free contributions to public services made between members of a community. We don't have to raise taxes for ordinary people or cut services, we just have to enable and encourage communities that give a shit.

We have built our society on dangerous simplifications of complex subjects and expected those outside the limited definitions to change or exclude themselves. Those simplifications are obsolete. Your boxes work for nobody. Humanity thrives on change. Get out of the box.

Together we can show what a real alternative to the far right looks like. Vote Green on May 1st πŸ’š

Forever stumbling across amazing new resources. Support for all kinds of community groups, whether you're established or just getting started πŸ’š

It's as simple as that is it?
Yep!

Simple stuff from Geoffrey 'godfather of AI Hinton on @itvpeston.bsky.social this week.

Community Food Banks need support now more than ever.Β  Here are five ways you can help. Thank you!Β  #BanktheFood #localfoodbankΒ  #techforgoodΒ  #makeadifference

"It’s important to me that my savings are invested ethically and help to make a positive change.” - Edward, Selce share offer member www.positive.news/society/powe...

Sorry I've been a bit quiet recently - I'm basically following my own advice and pushing myself to get involved with things locally. I'm sure I'll find a balance where I can do both, but just getting used to the busier schedule atm πŸ’š

πŸš€ It's GO time! Real hope and real change does not trickle down from the top, it rises up. We're backing bold, exciting candidates at the upcoming council elections. Sign up to our action days, share and contribute here - greensorganise.uk/taking-the-f... youtu.be/Bgu5HpwDYDs

I've come out of the @greensorganise.bsky.social launch feeling like this is it. This is the missing piece that rounds out the Green Party into a party that can appeal to absolutely anyone. A force to be reckoned with. I'm all in, let's go πŸ’š

Some really good ideas in this. Well worth a read and implementing if possible.

I'm really excited to see how Greens Organise grow - highly recommend checking out their campaign launch this Thursday to listen to what they're offering πŸ’š

We’re taking the fight to Reform. We're building our own thing here, on the ground. Sign up below to the campaign launch call this Thursday at 6pm. ➑️ greensorganise.uk/taking-the-f... Massive shout out to Orbital for the campaign anthem.

Decent enough weather to drop off a large amount of food at the community fridge & pantry - you can find out more about the project here - linktr.ee/frederickcom...

Take this as a reminder to research your local community gardens, guerilla gardening groups, or just get together with a bunch of friends and lob a bunch of native wildflower seeds about the place! πŸ’š

Less than a week to go until World Rewilding Day! (1/5)

Politics feels a lot less hopeless when you stop hating the people who vote for harmful leaders. When you understand they're just people, taking information they've been given, and voting for what they think is best for the people they love. We just need to communicate a better alternative πŸ’š

An inspiring day at @sustainweb where representatives from UK-wide Bridging the Gap pilot projects shared ways they're improving access to responsibly grown food. Edinburgh Community Food is proud to be part of this journey. πŸŽ₯ Watch the film: bit.ly/4i1kIvf πŸ“

A short proposal for how The Green Party could develop a community-driven campaign over the next 4 years which would: πŸ’š Deliver change, now πŸ’š Strengthen community infrastructure πŸ’š Counter far-right narratives πŸ’š Boost party visibility πŸ’š Build volunteer networks

Sometimes we're too hard on ourselves when we try to make ethical changes in how we spend, which leads us to fall back into the bad options we're used to. All progress is good progress. Just because you can't find or afford local, handgrown whatever, doesn't mean you can't make positive changes πŸ’š

This video from Justin Scott on TikTok explains (much more intelligently than I did in the post below) why I believe building community-owned solutions is the most effective anti-capitalist strategy, as it simultaneously attacks and defends against the corrupt system. vm.tiktok.com/ZNdd8rUPB/

🌍 Power to the People: The History of Community Energy From wind farms funding food banks to solar panels supporting vital services, community energy is changing lives. But where did it all begin? πŸ“– Find out here: www.younity.coop/blogs/blog/t...

I recently learned about Social Prescribing in the NHS and think it's one of the most underrated services they provide! Sessions aim to "connect people to activities, groups, and services in their community to meet the practical, social and emotional needs that affect their health and wellbeing" πŸ’š

Reminder that we are (or at least were) capable of simply identifying and fixing a global problem so effectively that people literally don't even remember doing it.

Interesting little bump on the most recent couple of YouGov polls showing Reform -> Green rising from a consistent 0% to 1 and then 2% With Greens now directly attacking Reform, it'll be interesting to see if this trend continues ahead of the local elections.

Ever think about how wildly disconnected from nature we are? As a whole species, we're like generations of mice passed from box to maze to cage... living in constantly novel and alarming environments. The instincts and wisdom of our ancestors rendered useless in the new world, shifting beneath us.

Wednesdays at 10am-noon are gardening parties at the Beban Learning Gardens with Nanaimo Community Gardens Society! For more info: nanaimocommunitygardens.ca #Nanaimo #VanIsle #CommunityGarden

This thread was inspired by a Nationwide payout email. I realised moving banks was impactful, and although not perfect, switching from Santander to Nationwide was the right balance of ethical and convenient for me at the time. Their profit-sharing emails are always a nice reminder of that change.

The Vision for the Future feed is really starting to come together πŸ’š

Reminds me of a little event I put together in 2023 called A Parliament of Neighbors, which asked participants to contend with what it means to be a neighbor. youtu.be/dwemDtD4mTk
