I'd rather focus on things that *can't* be taken away at the stroke of a pen, and for that you need resources to go into local resilience. Stuff like community solar, co-ops (for power and food!) could be expanded into healthcare, child care and housing. Heavy CC impacts are coming, and we need it.

Yes! The speakers were great, and the whole thing just felt exciting. I think the video sums it up really nicely. Feels like the start of something good!

I agree - I just have faith that once they find out, more will join the fight (before it's in their interest to do so)
I hope the right surprise you (and tbf, me - I'm aware this could just be optimistic cope on my part) and we see real working class solidarity, but understand not waiting for that.

It's just worth keeping in mind that although we've told them, they've been told to treat our words with the same distrust that we have in them.
You're right though, we need people like you. My approach is not enough. But we need to remember we're fighting for a future, not a victory at any cost.

By definition, I can't point to any public figure as an example.
If you're publicly standing up as an authority/influencer on a topic, you have a responsibility to understand it.

Nope, absolutely not what I said.
"It's about intent" is what I said. I'm talking about the masses - the ones on the receiving end of a propaganda machine optimised for control over generations.
There's a level at which you can't claim ignorance, and it's much lower down the ladder than them.

I agree it's a big challenge, and you're right that some people will be stuck in their ways. I just don't necessarily think that we should hate them for that.
We need to understand why and how, specifically, they got there, and do our best to intercept and educate anyone on the same path.

For me, it's about intent. My experience with right wing voters is they're not explicitly voting for harm. They're voting for what they think is best for them (often they think it'll be best for everyone)
We have to believe those people are reachable at some point or what are we even fighting for?

I do get your point - I'm not saying it's everyone, but I think the average right winger has the capacity to change.
We're not working with the same information. They could have grown up with a totally different world of news. I struggle to condemn someone for simply taking the world at its word.

They're racist for a reason, and it's important to understand that reason before writing them off.
If they grew up with balanced viewpoints, relative privilege and decided as an adult to be racist, fuck them.
There's hope for those who ended up there via family propaganda or systemic inequality.

Consistent media messaging can only keep its grip for so long, if the evidence in front of your eyes gets too strong.
We can't fight pro-capitalist media with anti-capitalist media. Our evidence needs to be stronger. They need to be able to see it, touch it, feel it.
It needs to be undeniable.

Any ideas left of accepted norms have to work twice as hard for a fraction of the reach, but that's the challenge.
It's another reason why I believe so strongly in community-owned solutions: it's likely you'll have right-wing and left-wing people, talking, working together, for their community.

I say "just", understanding that we're at a significant disadvantage.
Billionaire-owned media has easy access to put ideas in the mind of millions, and the ability to produce consistent messaging.
We have ourselves. The platforms we build, the spaces we occupy to educate and grow together.

Honestly it's really validating to hear someone say such similar points to those whirling around my head for months now.
This is what we need to do. It's clear as day to me. All we need to work on is finding a way to explain it that doesn't take a year to process and draw the same conclusion.

It basically addresses all the stuff we know affects our health: being active, having a good support network, being involved in the community.
It's preventative care!
It should be a bigger focus, and more people should be made aware of it!

For context, this is not just Reform hemorrhaging voters in all directions. Reform -> Lab, Con and Lib Dem has no notable recent rise.
