I mean…if meaningful updates are deployed frequently, then cool okay I’ll SaaS. But everything tho?!! I hate that so many things require a subscription now. Haaaaate 😅

Example: I’ll admit I don’t mind paying for my Microsoft 365 E5 subscription because it has literally everything I need and the updates have been fantastic in my experience. But for just a regular Word/Excel/PowerPoint license, a one time payment should be sufficient.

If you are simultaneously willing to pay the actual cost of developing the software, yeah.

Super interesting to compare the SaaS world with video games—the one few bastions of pay once, use forever software. MMOs are really the only ones that buck the trend.

Someone had to say it! The number of times I’ve advised someone to make something SaaS is embarrassing considering the number of times I’ve declined something BECAUSE it required a subscription 😅
