ππ¦. This time of year is tough for so many people so this is a really great and supportive message. A reminder to check on your loved ones. Especially those that become unusually quiet over the holidays. #Overwhelm
I'll try. July: My mother died. Sept: Found out I have to move. Nov: Trump is elected. Dec: Found out Southside Johnny, leader of the Asbury Jukes, the band I adore & am named for, had to retire suddenly due to health. A 50-year love crashes to nothingness. No more concerts & now I worry about him.
Caregiving is VERY hard. I was the only child who lived near my parents, so I got both of them. After Dad died, Mom's health seemed to crash. But I think it was that she never lived alone a day in her life. As soon as she moved in with me, she was fine and lived another 18 years. I feel ya, dear. π
My mom is dealing with Parkinsonβs and dementia in addition to other chronic conditions and Iβm the primary caregiver. Weβre beginning the process of finding in home respite care, a difficult process
Yes, indeed, it is. In the latter part of the 18 years I played caregiver, my mother had dementia as well as an inability to walk due to advanced arthritis. Be careful for yourself. I messed up my shoulders terribly hoisting her wheelchairs, walkers, and other things too heavy for me.
I canβt lift heavy things anymore because of my cancer surgery, so weβre really beginning to look at getting CNAs to help out. And OMG π³, I found out that round the clock care can be as much as 12000-15000 a month! Thatβs insane!
I have almost everything delivered to my house instead of going out b/c of my current issues. That's why I'm SO mad at Bezos being such a dick. I NEED Amazon! But I swear I'm not using them until they settle with their union over the warehouse dangers. They're unacceptable.
