The possibility for precipitation starts to look favorable for my area sometime between the 2nd and 3rd week of January. I am not desperate yet, but it's becoming a concern.

Yes, while this nice, mild and dry winter weather has been very nice, it has been since early November since we've had any significant precipitation here in CK -- I'm sure pretty much the same for you. I mark it on my calendar to keep track and it's been a while.
I lost out on most of that November snow. My downspout broke because that first 8" was so wet and heavy. My spare was cracked and leaked. I got maybe 1/3 of what I could have collected. It's all fixed and ready to go now! Silver lining: my driveway is resurfaced. That was going to be a spring task
That November snow was so heavy, it collapsed my chicken pen. I looked out in the morning and it was flat as a pancake, with the chickens stuck in their coop. Silver lining: my neighbors came by and we rebuilt it -- industrial strength -- to prevent further cave ins. My chickens were very happy 😄
I have felt guilty, for lack of a better word, that I have been hoarding all the snow the past two years. LOL! I want you to have that winter magick, too!
It's my roof. My catchment surface will double once I get my kitchen building done. My tank does fill to the point that I usually have to start filling smaller containers by now. Once I get the kitchen done, I will buy another tank. We got almost no rain this monsoon season. Really bad year. :(
