I agree, Jack. With him as opposed to a former Francophone head coach, it would also squash rumors of that guy replacing MSL.

Couldn't agree more Jack. This team is totally disorganized defensively. I have rarely seen a team get hemmed in so often unable to to the puck out. Disheartening to watch.

Since the moment he was fired I have been saying to bring him back. He knows some of the players, MSL was a team mate, and he basically lead us to the Cup final.

Everyone wants to be a head coach. Richardson was set up to fail in Chicago with the fire sale. He did very well with the habs though and would fit in with the structure they are building. To many criticize MSL unfairly not realizing experience on D happens to come with experience. Luke could help.

Richardson could certainly help.What's strange about the collapses is how suddenly and quickly they happen.As you said,they were competitive thru the first two periods.And they did win 3/4 coming in to last night. At times they play impressively. But it evaporates so quickly. Jekyll,meet Mr. Hyde...

That’s a great idea in theory. In practice I think Marty would fight it tooth and nail. He’s extremely stubborn and would see it as his failure (which it is), but not see it as an opportunity (which it is). Then you’d have to have Richardson on board.

I agree. Lots of extrapolation from actions or inactions in the past. When given the opportunity to bring in a coach with a lot of experience, he chose to hire a coach who helps other coaches, but not from the bench and not directly with players. What does one take from that?

I thought the same after hearing Luke R was released by Chicago. Many have written he coached the Habs to 2021 run.
However, would he prefer to wait for a head coaching job?

He may. But it was a dismal run in Chicago. He might wait a long time. When you're looking for another head coaching job it's best to keep working

Agree 💯 Luke is too good to be sitting at home and he certainly could help the Habs and if not them he could be plying his trade elsewhere.

Agreed. It would be a good move.
I’ve always believed the 21 run went as far as it did was Richardson taking over the coaching role.
He would be a strong addition.
