before people get all "this isn't going to stand up," he knows this
the game here is clearly (imo) to give the (not terribly informed on how ratifying things works) public the view that all this trad/misogynist shit is in fact illegal, to create an *understanding women have rights*

The Equal Rights Act was ratified. I dare anyone to explain to my why it wasn’t. If it’s violated, I will fucking howl.
I don’t know why Biden thought that would work but maybe it will? I’m treating it like a weapon either way
it's going to be very easy to spike this for technical, not substantive, reasons--technical reasons I don't agree with, but still. SCOTUS'll say "sorry, time expired, just reratify it" and nothing will happen
like, collectively. He's asking *us* to make this part of the platform going forward
Obama gave us the ACA, but not that much else and got way bogged down in the Tea Party battle.
Clinton gave us FMLA, but also DADT and got himself impeached.
The others I remember are Reagan, Bushx2, DJT.
The Biden presidency was almost miraculously restorative from the Trump years and far more progressive than I'd have expected of him.
He left the country better off, even if we can't see it.
I was a Reoublican back then (I got better) and even I thought it was a stupid prosecution.
Ironically, today I more align with Clinton's political values and see his actions re: Lewinsky more wrong.
And some GOPpers still believe in the Clinton Death List.
It sucked, but ending the witch hunts for queer personnel was a good thing. Very much a "necessary, but not sufficient" move.
I won't defend his personal malfeasance, though. No one can.
It's not great that "be closeted at work and we don't care" was an improvement. But it was an improvement nonetheless.
and a great dissent by Jackson that gets picked up later in a moment of reason.
Either the Trump admin lets these obvious things proceed or they have to be seen to block them and pay the price.
This is like running through an office building before you are evicted, turning every light switch on.
Even if people outside don't pay attention to the lights, someone still has to shut them off.
None of those things are surefire fixes individually but every bit of support or resources they lose helps degrade their efforts.
