CAMP OF THE SAINTS?!?!

Went to my local indie theater tonight to see this. I knew Buster Keaton was a gem, but I’d never watched a full feature before. The choreography, storytelling, and physical comedy was so impressive. Highly recommend if this comes to a theater near you.

Ben Brown used a two-pitch mix to throw six scoreless innings, and the Chicago Cubs got 14 runs on 15 hits in the final three innings of a 16-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night.

Loophole for "no wishing for more wishes" genie rule: You just use your third wish for finding A DIFFERENT bottle with a DIFFERENT genie, and keep on chaining two wishes plus a new genie forever, or until the bottled genie supply runs out.

this is a no-stakes complaint, I own how not important this is. But if you're going to have your characters on screen drink Champagne/sparkling wine & there are no bubbles in the beverage, you are smashing a Mo Pet Peeve spot real dang hard. Either have bubbles or have them drink something else!!

i love the phrase "active diarrhea" because it implies we all exist in one of two states, active or inactive diarrhea

I'm so used to bar bathrooms with cutesy signs that I had to stop here and ask myself if I was a Mario or a Wario

From 1999-2013, RFK sold his own brand of bottled water (in plastic bottles, and with a horrible carbon footprint) that contained TWO TIMES the upper limit of fluoride recommended for dental health, which is more than the safely allowable amount per US Public Health Service, and IS potentially toxic

My basic problem with this thinking is always at core quite simply that certain things about the System are, in fact, fine.

It's entertaining that you still feel like you're part of the left, Jeet. It seems that the only thing you love more than bashing Dems is downplaying fascism.

Toad read a long story to his seeds.

"The guy abusing immigrants and hurting poor people was nice to me, a rich guy with a TV show."

Every time I go to a post rock show I’m reminded that a post rock band is just a jam band that doesn’t have fun

I love 1950s science fiction because they’ll tell a story about a giant mantis and spend 15 minutes explaining the concept of an exoskeleton

The weirdest thesis that has picked up absurdly much vigour with my circles on here is the idea that Graeber and Musk have something in common because they both think some jobs are bullshit. I think some of you need to cool it on the negative polarisation machine.

Here it is! Risch's monumental work on the Quartermaster Corps...and more relevant to today's circumstances than you'd imagine. open.substack.com/pub/jsargent...

Hibbard in his biography has just said that Bernini "painted in marble." And this book has been worth the read just for that line.

the ending of Lost is so confusing i gotta finish this show

mentally I am one of those cheap off brand chocolate Easter bunnies that is not only hollow inside but also tastes weird

Trump didn’t treat his own syphilis, and now he’s not gonna let you treat yours.

Glad to see we’re addressing the root cause of all of this: Luther’s heresy

If you ever encounter Jeet Heer on Bluesky remember he’s a fucking moron.

Its kind of becoming clear that American conservatives don't just hate liberalism (late 20th century market-friendly socially egalitarian values) they hate Liberalism (18th century philosophy embracing individual rights and democracy)

Perioidic reminder that the reason you didn't see autistic people with intellectual disabilities on the street five decades ago was not because they didn't exist. It's because they were sent away to institutions and their parents were told to put away pictures of them.
