Most “progressive” websites have been complicit in the promotion of FB—while posting articles about the dangers of FB!

Same with Twitter; my local council posts there, and they won't go to Bluesky or post there as well.
However facebook does make the site really irritating to use without logging in, which makes me hate them more.
I mean only being able to scroll a max of about 4 posts before requiring sign-in, getting a signin popup every few pictures when viewing a collection (without a close button requiring a page refresh).
At least it's chronological unlike "the other place", so usable.
Now the felon is threatening companies to do away with all that to silence us and help the right wingers.
And never signed up, nor ever will.
