I’m sorry, but If we want to build movements we have to create space for people to join movements, and that means actually welcoming them when they revise their beliefs instead of rejecting them because they didn’t hold those beliefs to begin with.

If by those. You mean the people who are MAGAS or just voted for Trump in November. Maybe they should start a movement and prove they're truly reformed and not just trying to infiltrate & destroy.
NOPE! And here is why. If you were foolish enough to believe that malarkey in the first place how can I trust you for coalition building? How do I know when the next charlatan authoritarian comes along you won't just believe his lies and vote for him too? This guy's charlatanism was NOT SUBTLE
He bankrupted Casinos for Heaven's Sake. The voter who could not see through him is the voter I don't trust. The voter who voted for him AFTER the Insurrection is, to my mind, authoritarian leaning and not really that vested in Democracy. They may be mad at him NOW because his policies are
materially affecting them personally or people they know. They may be strange bedfellows but they are NOT allies. They are not safe and they may damn well be fools who can be fooled again. So NOPE.
There is also, and this is KEY for me, the distinct possibility that they bought into ALL his cruel racism and are ONLY mad now because the cost of living is predicted to go up due to tariffs. Like true to their core they REALLY do want a "leader" who will make America "work for White people" again.
The scenario you’re describing isn’t what I’m talking about. Hating Trump for the wrong reasons isn’t really changing your beliefs. I’m talking about, say, becoming pro-choice after being anti choice.
I’ve seen leftists who ended up turning right, so a track record only goes so far anyway.
I don't know what this is in response to. But, I do know it will take generations for people who voted to demolish our government to live beyond their shame.
It helps when they realize and admit to their mistake. Without that at a minimum, they aren't worth the time of day.
It’s fine if you don’t have the bandwidth to help people change their beliefs. Not everyone does! But why engage in the work of movement building if you’re just going to shit on people when they do finally arrive?
