Although I’ve seen that people are pretty sure that the basement track sounding fucked up is a technical problem rather than a compositional one, like it’s using the wrong keys in the coding or something. It “fixed” actually works really well.

It's speculated that it used the wrong instruments in the MIDI file. Like in MIDI files you can just choose what instrument each sound channel uses, and for some reason trumet was used. Maybe it was the ghostwriter trolling Mamoru Samuragochi.
I love everything about the tracks. I feel like even as messed up as they are, I think that combined with the voice acting is wonderfully silly given the content of the game.
I think it’s using the wrong midi voice tracks. Iirc MIDI systems around this time had slight variations so if you used the wrong set of voices, you can really change the sound. People theorize this is what happened to the soundtrack for Ancient Roman as well.
