The fascists are relying on us to surrender and retreat into our personal spaces and imaginary fortresses while they dismantle everything humanity represents. As Noam Chomsky put it best, I’ll defer to his words. 👇
Me too. Why do humans need to fight all the time? It’s insane the amount of time we spend in conflict when we could just live out beauty in our lives. Humans biggest problem are other humans and it’s sickening because it seems like a problem that can be solved.
YES....That dumb statement is right up there with "god only gives you want you can handle" I'm tired of being the test subject for that theory! Where's my blanket and a warm cookie?
I've heard that when my son passed away, or that God is not giving you more than you can handle 😭 I can make sense of those words. On the other hand, even sometimes it is so tragically difficult to comprehend that people don't know what to say so they repeat whatever.
Thank you. I also no longer want to be referred to as “resilient” or “inspirational.” It gets in the way of my authentic current life goal of drinking coffee with Baileys and finishing this delightful and whimsical Susan Wittig Albert series based on the life of Beatrix Potter.
I think sometimes people use “survivor” as a way to reassure themselves that you are “all better” and they don’t have to feel bad about not offering help.Victim implies help is still needed.I got that a lot going thru the family court system, post DV.
You say that until one day you wake up and discover you can no longer climb stairs and it's painful to walk. You'd be surprised how quickly you start wanting to be stronger.

It's not literally true in most cases. Sure, you don't get gain without a little (manageable) pain, but the results of adversity that doesn't kill you is usually debilitating unless you happen to be extraordinarily resilient, as the author of this sentiment probably was.

"What doesn't kill you makes you harder to insure."
Out the book, “Samantha’s Voice.” My book club read it, I loved it so much I’m giving it a nod, 💙
There are a whole lot of things that have failed to kill me, but I'm feeling more worn out than strong.
