"woke" meant
"being aware of injustice & inequality... individuals who are attentive to social issues, particularly race & discrimination"
so... a group of people turned "being aware of injustice & inequality" into an insult
I think often on what this says about so many ppl in this country

Anti-antifa is pro racism
Anti DEI is pro segregation
It's simple.
Woke now means not a fascist prick!
At some point some fascist asshole got ahold of it and when they realized CRT wasn't really hitting because the racism was a little too on the nose brought attention to woke as a scare word
Whitey steal word.
"Jane Fonda Proclaims 'Woke Just Means You Give a Damn About Other People' in Rousing Lifetime Speech at SAG Awards 2025"
Still pretty much how I think of it.
Always jacking from the culture
I am changing the conversation from race to colonial behaviors: more of a historical and cultural thing (anthropology) instead of about skin color or $
every time i hear someone on the💙left speak pejoratively about being woke, echo-chamber, DEI, liberal or libtard
i am reminded of how much more effective the Right-wing messaging is compared to the💙left's
& it's effective on 'certain' people on both sides. 💙we need to counter more effectively
Diversity?
Equality?
Inclusion?
Where, in these words, is discrimination? Where does it say mediocre white men don't belong?
They're included! It's a diverse country!
(I've actually gotten this very argument and they did not think being racist was a bad thing--they (plural) also thought 'bigot' meant 'non-Christian')
I've always loved the poem "I Woke Up" by Jameson Fitzpatrick for how beautifully it explores the awakening of political consciousness.
"Aware"
Meaning those against it are proud of being "unaware". It says everything we need to know about the individual.
