Poison Ivy was not simply "the guitarist" of the Cramps. She was the main composer and producer of the band. In late 70's, she was an exception, punkrock was mainly a "Boys Job". I've read an interview of King Congo Power who told : "The Cramps was like a teenage gang dream. Ivy was the Boss ! "

If you think about how women have done a lot of things that require dexterity, being able to rip a guitar is much more their kind of thing than a man's.

I also think women vocalists have just so much more ability to express emotions than men in general.

I was lucky enough to see the band at the Town & Country Club in London 1991.
The sliders on the sounddesk were all topped with little eyeballs.
The band were absolutely on fire!
