And before you can ever get a drivers license, you have to take a test, then you get a learner's permit. How about a learner's permit before you can use a gun?
Cause gun manufacturers have spent several decades effectively purchasing the NRA to force mass adoption, meanwhile car manufacturers aren't that crazy and understand how mass adoption still needs limits. When a gun shoots up a school, sales go up, when a car crashes it's just not the same.
(Mind you it's not like car manufacturers haven't tried by forcing trucks and lifted cars down people's necks, but we as a public are broken cause when we see a car killing an entire family due to a negligent driver, that's bad, but if a gun did it, well who can really judge?)
You gotta visit my state, I literally went to the store, had a 30min background check, signed a no-sharing contract with the state, and left with my weapon of choice. I have heard getting a larger automatic weapon is more paperwork, but I'm not money, so idk 🤷🏼♀️
Literally. Also the second Amendment was written before cars were invented. As the BMV likes to remind people: driving is a *privilege*, not a right. 🤨
My last two renewals, because I moved to a new state, required documentation of all my legal names from marriages and a divorce, even though I had a legal license from a different state. It took at least two trips each.
Wild how one requires proof of vision, residency, and a scheduled appointment—and the other can be done in 15 minutes at a gun show with no background check. Totally normal society.
One industry adds safety features, willingly, cause it reduces liability. The other removes and minimizes safety features cause a mad man shooting a place up is a great PR campaign on why more paranoid people NEED guns.
(thinking about how the gun industry still fights against a mag safety, the mechanism being that it stops the gun from firing without a mag in the gun even if a bullet is in the chamber, so negligent owners cleaning their guns don't kill their people which happens routinely.)
Ummm. 1,000% true in ohio. I can go get a gun today. I've been waiting for an appointment to renew my license after missing the grace period for over a month. F*** off.
Next time you need to renew your gun license, provide your marriage cert., proof of address, ID, get an ON SITE eye test & wait 6 months learning from an experienced gun owner before operating a gun b/c we all know how important gun safety is to ppl let us know.Until then my comment stands.F*** off
You're mentioning a bunch of misogynistic nonsense laws. That's nothing to do with comparing firearm to DL.
You do have to provide ID, proof of address, FINGERPRINTS, and wait for both State and Federal background checks. Your ignorance and hysterics aren't an argument.
no
cars dont kill because they arent (usually) made for killing
is their driver that is on god knows how many illicit substances driving like if they were a eight year old playing grand theft auto
I was being semi-sarcastic because we know another killing instrument -- point taken about lack of rigour in testing firearms owners for skills and then holding them responsible.
oh sorry
im not american and im not very fond with the idea of owning 59 guns, i feel the gun owner problem is more a problem of your country because where i live as far as i know it is legal buying guns and all the gun violence they show in the news are from robbers
Mine are out only when home, they are locked up otherwise.
I don't have kids or visitors.
Though to be fair: Our lives were threatened by a local militia so these days I am always ready. I can roll full battle rattle. Except I can't quite afford night vision yet....
Scary stupid, huh? Gun lobby has been so successful in our country because there is BIG money in it. Nobody is lobbying on behalf of driver's licensing/registration.

And something about militias being a good thing.
And, why would you be stupid enough to repeat it in public?
You admit you missed the grace period.
Your comment means nothing.

Ummmm. I have so many more questions now. So should i not follow those laws or..... pls explain it to me like I'm a hysterical woman. 😂
oh wait..

Can you imagine what could happen if the car-centric US made owning and using cars as criminally negligent as it is for guns?
Deaths/ injuries caused by vehicular homicide + car accidents might surpass deaths/ injuries from shootings and gun accidents.
That said: Why don't you take every gun the left owns and just hand them to a far right militia and get on the cattle car peacefully.
The left is going to get fucking steamrolled.

America is supposed to be a NAZI free zone.
