This is disgraceful from a UK company, the only way I can protest is to sell my small number of GSK shares. It’s a tiny gesture, but the collapse of the Tesla share price shows the power of millions of tiny gestures. Dump GSK!

British company, headquartered in London, listed on the London Stock Exchange, taking its orders from a foreign President.
I can understand (but 100% disagree with) them actioning this at their two sites in the US, but this? Reads like a panic move on their part that (hopefully, but not holding my breath) come bite them back in the arse.
With Starmer as our PM it was only a matter of time. Between being a subservient cowardly twat and a hateful arsehat he will guide us right down the fascist rabbit hole
A real government would immediately start moves to bring legal action against the company for violating UK laws, and for being compromised through loyalty to a foreign nation.
Okay, I'll bite- it doesn't seem obvious to me that GSK is NOT following the executive orders of a foreign nation's president. It seems, from what they themselves have stated, that they are doing exactly that in order to secure business in that foreign nation.
Oh yeah this is a dogshit move and it's also prioritizing USian law over British law which might be illegal! I was just saying to that specific post that it was not obvious to me that GSK weren't following the orders of a foreign president, and in fact they seem to be doing exactly that
They do affect private entities by threatening to remove funding, contacts, etc. if they don't comply. I don't see how that's an excuse for a British company though.
No, they care about the bottom line.
If they think diversity is profitable (and diverse work forces tend to be), they promote it. If not, well, humans are an expendable resource.
Oh they affect them sure. But they’re not legally binding commands that businesses or individuals are in any way obliged to obey.
GSK has the option of ignoring the EO or of ending IDE activities in the relevant market (still cowardice but pragmatic).
Instead they chose…this.

And it is following the orders of a foreign President.
This is GSK vice signalling to the world and abandoning minorities because they want to.
But sadly I suspect we'll soon find out who finds women, minorities and the LGBTQ+ community disposable.
