On shipping emissions, aren't these relatively small? Would it not be better to focus on bigger emitters first? Road, concrete production, steel etc?

Cargo ships use some of the crappiest fuel available so they are quite polluting of water and air when in port. Wouldn’t it be grand if people would just stop buying so much random stuff thy we could simply reduce the number of ships as well as make them less stinky

It would certainly be awesome. But I'm just not sure how it will happen. Short of war happening (which tbf is worryingly more likely than it used to be), I can't see how people are going to give up buying random tat. Sadly

The Climate & Nature Bill would require UK to cut the emissions associated with imported goods. That would mean a carbon border tax, to level the playing field for UK companies producing at home on a cleaner grid. Less need to buy stuff in. https://www.zerohour.uk

They're 3% of global emissions but forecast to rise to 10% by 2050.

Agreed those other things are very significant.

But given the urgency, we need to reduce emissions in all sectors simultaneously, in parallel.
