2) Gas spores. Two ways to use these beholder-looking fungi. First, you can use them to scare the shit out of low level parties. Second, you can trick higher level parties into burning spell slots thinking it’s a beholder.

3) Darkmantle. The freakin best combo monster in the game, use them to create magical darkness allowing creatures with blindsight to operate unhindered. Plus, they’re pretty nasty on their own!

4) Scouts. High stealth and a longbow? The cheapest assassin in the game. You can stay hundreds of feet out of range and pick targets off from a tree stand.

5) Magma Mephits. These things are deadly AF. They have false appearance, fire immunity, and the ability to cast heat metal. So you pop out, surprise a target, cast heat metal, then jump into a pool of magma while concentrating on the spell. Brutal.

6) Spectators. These lesser beholders have 120 feet of darkvision and 90 foot rays. That means it can hang back in the dark just out of sight and snipe with their rays. Plus they get to choose what they shoot (unlike full beholders).
