Still banking on him having issues in WWE. Pretty sure he already has, and they have been buried by PR. - Jack Perry was not the problem. AEW was not the problem. Punk is high maintenance. If WWE can afford him that maintenance, then more power to them.
It wouldn't have worked out. Tony was trying to keep everyone happy due to the TV deals coming up, as well as The Bucks/Omega/Hangman's contracts. The only way it works out is if both sides get together to squash things.
Hasn’t Punk been fired by every wrestling promotion at least once? He flaps his gums and causes trouble for everyone. Part of me wishes Kenny had decided to punch him instead of saving the dog. But then, it’s a dog and animals are more important than people.
Honestly, who cares?
He made a choice, it was a terrible choice and then he went back on basically everything he said he believed in after he left the Fed.
Because of all that, personal belief is that he does something else to lead to the same outcome.
Don't know but it was for the greater good that he did. He's back in the big boy's league where bookers know what they're doing and where the professionals wrestle
He would have done some stupid and dangerous thing one day or another. The entire summer before All In there was an issue per week with him. Good riddance.
We’d have had a few more months of underwhelming Punk-influenced AEW tv & miserable morale behind the scenes in AEW, until something else would’ve caused Punk to implode & depart the promotion.
We get a few more weeks or months of tepid onscreen creative centered on Phil while more backstage drama leaks as Phil engineers how he's going to get himself out of his contract. It's clear he wanted out and was going to figure out how to get there. Good fucking riddance.
AEW would still be built around him and it would probably be doing slightly better in the ratings by would fuckin suck booking wise like it did for almost the entirety of his run. I would l probably have stopped watching and gone back to NJPW.
My passion for wrestling wouldn't have waned. I imagine a few people can say the same. I got so sick of seeing constant negative AEW rhetoric that it almost made me turn off the product completely. It definitely affected my enjoyment of AEW, and I can't stand seeing his face on WWE now, either 🤷♀️
AEW might have slightly higher TV ratings, but a less good TV show because it would have still all been designed around a futile attempt to get Punk to feel the daddy love that he desperately wanted, but never got, from WWE
He would've found some other thing to intentionally flip out over so he could get fired. He was never in AEW for the long haul and was always just biding his time until WWE came calling.
I think it just would have been with someone else. I came to the conclusion long ago that he didn’t really ever want to be there. He was testing the waters before going back to WWE. Bro wants his wrestlemania moment.
I think he had a lot of resentment for AEW. If he didn’t fight Jack, I think he would’ve still been standoffish with ppl in the back that were friends with the Elite and as soon as he could he’d try to go back to WWE. I think he was always going to try to leave.
I agree "Punk bad" and "Punk bad at fighting" and all that, but training in a legitimate striking sport is still legitimate training. He wasn't skillful enough to beat a low level UFC fighter but he would absolutely wash 99% of pro wrestlers, I'm sure.
Oh yeah I don't disagree with you for the most part, I just reckon hanger could swing a fist and knock a bitch out, he'd just have to aim it for the right place.
He'd have pushed to unify the world title with his "real world title" meaning he would have probably take it from MJF or Samoa Joe and we'd never have gotten Swerve's title reign, because he'd have been jealous of Swerve's popularity.
There clearly was a lot of backstage tension, and it was reaching a boiling point. Since returning to WWE he's clearly been happier, had great bookings and an all timer fude with McIntyre. I think AEW was not the right fit for him and HHH's WWE is.
If Bluesky is the land of positivity and hugs can we please stop rehashing the story that almost killed my love of wrestling? Reading the comments was like PTSD.

His time in AEW inflated his ego past traditional CM Punk levels of ego
If it wasn’t Jack Perry
He would’ve thrown hands with someone that night
People bitch too much.
‘SCAPEGOAT’ Jack Perry stood his ground and did nothing wrong!
The guy literally ruined Starks chance at fighting for the fake world title in a massive programme
Obviously he had his best ever match with Danielson but me I'd be fuming???
