There's an element of "Physician heal thyself" to this. If a content creator aspires to be called an expert then they need to show that their advice works. There are always other "experts" who find a way to regularly do well.
Does any of them actually aspire to be called an expert? I know most of the ones I follow hate to be called that. And for me it's a big red flag if someone self-proclaims to be an expert.
Self-proclaiming to be an expert? Not from the Youtube/pod world that I can think of, but one that comes to mind is an account in a big FPL Facebook group called "FPL Expert" (the acct, not the group), who would write expert-sounding articles and I think they had a website and everything.
Engagement farming or whatever it was, but it certainly didn't stem from a willingness to share their FPL knowledge, of which they didn't have very much of. (Potentially very bad for people new to the game who might not see through it.)
Also worth noting is that the winner normally has a poor rank history, anyone can win, doing consistently well is skill and shows a full understanding of the game. Rank for cc gains credibility but it’s not essential.
I mean you can spin what Frookie said either way - that the winners win on pure luck, or that winning requires a specific style of play involving much more risk than the style of those with consistent good ranks.

I do think rank HISTORY is an indicator of whether someone understands the process(es) and the "how to think" - but that's not to say it's a requirement.
There can be managers who've not played the game long enough to have a good history (like, say, 3 seasons isn't enough of a sample size to draw conclusions from in most cases), or people who've played for a long time but have only recently become "engaged", and thus the history isn't indicative of

Do "Content Creators" create anything more than videos of their own opinions?
Do folks pay them because they enjoy their videos or for exclusive access to "expert" advice?
People pay for expert advice from doctors, etc, but is FPL worth paying for? So much free out there 🤷🏼♂️
