I’ve seen some posts here and there recently telling readers that they should stop playing it safe and start reading books that challenge their well-worn perspectives. I’ve got a better idea. Read whatever you want. Don’t let anyone tell you that you aren’t reading the books you should be reading.

I feel like there are a ton of women writing great books on the indie side and getting recognition for it.
- Read books that hurt your mental health
- Pretend you enjoy Victorian literature
- Feel guilty about DNFing
- Read anything recommended by that one friend who's only ever on social media

My answer was “If you come across a legal thriller, great mystery, or tense cop story that blew your hair back - PLEASE tell me.” I’d love any recs from avid readers regardless of genre.
I have never judged anyone on there reading or not reading
It’s my hobby. My boyfriend plays golf and only reads instructions and manuals

Maybe if someone like Kubrick or Coppola made the movie it may be better but that is about it.
When I was in school they told me WHAT to read, and I did not appreciate the books, no matter how good they were.
Those people telling me I NEED to read this or that tend to be ignored in favor of the people who say they LOVED to read this or that.
Learning to read for personal fun and enjoyment is vital, I believe.
