I'm not generally one to complain about ticket prices. However, I've stopped going to the theater as often because while I'm fine with paying if I can actually see the show, when I can't, which has been happening more often, then just not worth it. It's always a gamble, I'm just gambling less often.
I have worn my winter hat indoors. You have the option of a hat or my giant curls expanding in size threefold. The critic who tapped me on the shoulder & demanded I take my hat off had to live with his choice of the giant curls. I would also suggest sometimes ppl are dealing w/unseen health issues
I would say it’s primarily thoughtlessness.
I never ask them to remove the obstruction, btw.
OTOH, I have sat behind many people who do remove their hats. And even in some cases behind people who let down the hair they had piled on top. The height of courteousness.
It's a situation for me that feels fraught. Hair is v personal. I've seen people demand hats come off & the request was not polite. But also for me at 5' 1" I am thinking I have never blocked another human's view on earth unless it was a child. 😂 But that critic felt otherwise.
As a tall girl with big curly hair I feel incredibly self conscious and hyper-aware that I am ruining someone else's experience. It's awful because there actually isn't much for me to do about it. When children are seated behind me I make sure their parents know they can ask for a booster pillow.
I don't think the ushers do a good job of offering them to folks (other than in the Disney houses). IMO they should take the initiative to order more but maybe they're worried about offending someone.
