Aimee and I are enjoying watching Sense8. I wish I had gotten into it when it first aired. So many main characters with equal screen time makes it tough to get hooked, IMO.

Here’s the topic. I’m getting up early on a Saturday, driving 2.5 hours, dealing with traffic & parking, so I can stand outside in 35 degree weather and pouring rain. And probably end up sick as a result. To be part of the People’s March

Not unhinged: dedicated! So, having been to MANY marches:

-- if your arms won't get tired, bring a punchy/biting sign for visual appeal to news cameras
-- wear layers
-- waterproof outerwear; shoes
-- bring change of socks, gloves
-- have a bathroom plan
-- meeting friends? pick a spot in advance

I did gag writing as an amateur for a while and I was well-received. Never quite tried to turn it into a gig, even though some acquaintances urged me. How do you do that? Write humor pieces? Do stand up?

I'm not a comic, but via friends in comedy I've gleaned various routes. Some can take years (open mics, small clubs, then touring/road gigs, etc). Others unglamorous: pitch comedy pieces as often as poss.

Among easiest+quickest: write/produce comedy online. Hone your voice. Build Your audience.

And don't underestimate the power of just being funny every day on socials. I'm reluctant to recommend IG anymore, and definitely not Twitter, so I'm not sure what's possible in this space yet. But I know people who got comedy writing TV jobs based in part being consistently funny on Twitter.

(Lurking is the opposite of visibility, so once you've observed, best advice is to build relationships with funny people, have authentic conversations with people working on comedy, while posting regular comic material on your feed.)
