Some of us were lonely, isolated, and had trouble making friends as kids. We were "different".

They help me feel "functional" in a life where I can't often relate to others through the subject of interests/hobbies.
And explore facets of being human & figuring out who I was/wanted to be that I wasn’t allowed to otherwise.
So many spheres of life, even supposedly enjoyable ones, were a fraught burden to navigate as a kid who just felt like an outsider, with no idea what it meant to be neurodivergent.
But games made sense. And brought joy.
Late 40's disabled gamer. I struggle to get out of the house, my friends all bailed when I became ill. And now my gaming group is drifting away too, depression is seriously setting in. It's hard to find new people.
