People need to let go of caring how other people play games, at least the single-player variety. Lower difficulties, cheats, whatever *do not affect anyone who does not personally use them*.
Play the game however you like. I love the Parodious series but always make the game as easier because at normal difficulty I just get my ass kicked. There are tens of thousands of games, itβs okay to be a filthy casual and just play some of them fast and easy.
Be warned, however, if you play on easy in Tiny Toons: Buster Busts Loose!, you will miss out on nearly half of the gameβs content because several bosses and level sections are skipped on easy. And thereβs no password feature above the easy difficulty level. Old, obscure game, but crazy, right?
I don't want to turn the difficulty down if I can avoid it but I'm playing games to have fun. I'm not gonna bang my head against a wall if I don't have to
FPS games are notorious for this. And yet none (TMK) has ever had the guts to do a truly difficult setting; realistic. 1 or 2 shots and you're out. But the same goes for the enemies too.
These posts are always such refreshing reminders. Hopefully the gatekeepy days of the past will just be a long forgotten memory of old gamers like me. Until then keep up the good work! π«‘
As Iβve gotten older, I have become more comfortable dropping the game to βstoryβ or βeasyβ difficulty. Some games, the bosses are a SLOG on βnormal.β No oneβs got time for that.
Agree with the point, I just sometimes see critics not fully engage with a game and dock points unfairly. Accessibility menus are the best way to handle difficulty imo let people tune every aspect
I always play on Normal. Very few games do I switch to hard or insane difficulty. Normal, to me, seems like that's the game developers intended the game to be played. tee-hee
Years ago, some games used to make you feel bad about it by only letting you play the first few levels on easy, then forcing you to start over on normal or higher. The first time that happened, I stopped ever playing on easy for fear of having too start over. Might have to try again.
I play on whatever difficulty gives me a challenge without being a total bulls**t exercise in save scumming. Sometimes that's normal (f**k you, Hideous Destructor lol) sometimes it's maxed.
None of those things makes me a better gamer in any sense other than knowing what I like.

You are not better or worse for the difficulty you play on.
If I donβt manage after a few times, I lose interest. Short attention span.
I like FPS games but if there's no infinite ammo cheat/mod for it, I won't bother π
High Difficulties - for those who want to challenge their skills and masochists.
