Out of curiosity (and please comment!!), what % of the population do you think should have hyper traits in a furry universe?

That number's probably going up day after day too, with corruptive effects and growth spurts
~35% of the population showing any form of hyper sounds right, with progressive or extreme hypers appearing in ~5% percentage than that.
But with how contagious my hypers are, that number is always implied to be rising. :)
But I'm also for corruptive growth where people who are in contact with hypers often slowly start gaining hyper traits.
when the genes start being expressed, I'd give it like one or two generations before the sheer tidal wave of fertility renders the entire global population 100% hyper
from there things just go from big to bigger
That way it makes sense there's a lot of efforts in adapting stuff for "us", but not enough for it to really keep up with the constant growing baselines.
I suppose a good tell would be how much tech/industry is based around catering to hypers. If there's very little to none, then maybe <5~10%. If there is, then 10%+.
Then you can apply that logic to how generally accommodating society is to their needs.
12% hypers whose hyper bod don't go beyond the size of themselves. Large, but can live quite normally.
8% even bigger, up to a size that could be cumbersome to living, on the edge of worse.
4% at the mercy of their hyper traits, immobile etc.
1% natural disasters waiting to happen
1/8th roughly of the adult population.
Because the way I think of it, the Hyper Gene is either recessive or dominant. Problem with this is, if it was a dominant gene upwards of 60% of the population would be hypers. Which means a big mess.
So I think that most hypers just have the recessive gene
But that's just my idea.
samesies
and that's just *managable* hyper, think that real hyper folk would be less than 2%?
More extreme cases would be closer to 3-5% where they would need specialized gear or assistance. And then <1% would start reaching the sizes that need industrial help.
Perhaps the overall population of a furry world is smaller, less dense on account of larger individuals requiring more space
Additional 15% hyper-sized through interaction with the other category.
Strike that, itβs 20%
β¦ 25%
β¦β¦ 50% and growing rapidly
I got really into trying to logically explain specific things like this in my own worldbuilding so I have a bunch of random one of docs just dissecting specific aspects
with like 2% of that being like extreme cases that need hyper compression tech to keep in check~
1 in 20 up to 1 in 10
hard to say when you can grow hyper or shrink from it via some funny sodas or alike
But no world is perfect
And then you've got the 0.05% of them who need a warehouse just to function normally π
I think people underestimate how large a 1 in 5 ratio would be in regards to a given population. New buildings an public infrastructure requires ramps and accommodations for handicapped folks and the disabled population is 13% in the US.
So some places would have awesome and comfortable considerations for hypers, and others would have crummy ones.
That way being hyper would have it's mix of burden and pleasure.
Of course, you also have to consider the normal to hyper pipeline...
I like the idea of it being a rare trait but not so rare that societies dont have to adapt to it. Compression clothing, special furniture, or even "relief stations" become lucrative industries
