This is sadly part of prosperity doctrine. I am a childhood cancer survivor and while I was sick in the church, it was “gods plan” and they “healed me” through prayer. Once I turned away from the church, they blamed me turning away from god as the only reason I was sick. “Turn back and be healed!”
