Yes! I rarely bike and don’t walk nearly enough but we need more bike lanes and pedestrian walkways and fewer car roads.

Even if it inconveniences me it is better for everyone.

Yup, and "cyclists" may be the most diverse group of road users (the term includes children) yet they are referred to in debates as if they are one thing: male, white, thirties, English-speaking, employed, entitled.

Sooner than building more roads, effective redesign of problem junctions, those with a high crash rate, poor visibility and slow through times would probably benefit the network more. Cycling and pedestrian priority to figure. No lengthy foot diversions due to metal barriers please.

As someone who also has both a car and a bike, I absolutely endorse this post. I also think that taxes on road fuel should be higher; here in the UK they are now historically low when corrected for inflation.

According to Google: "In the UK, a significant percentage of adult cyclists also hold a driving license. Specifically, 87% of people aged 18 and over who cycle also drive."
