I have this vision of a weird standoff where Musk is holding Trump's tax returns and Trump is holding all of Musk's government contracts.

I give the advantage to Trump because he's old, addled, and the Supreme Court will probably declare tax fraud to be an official act for presidents in potentia.

In 2017 the cartoon of Trump on Bannon’s lap saying “I’m a big boy” seemed to really get to him. I think I recall protesters outside the White House with it, and Bannon didn’t last too long.

Trump and Bannon are at odds on what the point of the entire enterprise is. Trump views himself as a builder and Bannon thinks his job is to tear it all down. (Trump is enacting Bannon's agenda but not intentionally.) Bannon and Musk hate each other.
