The don’t use a computer that can be linked to your identity is one of the very first steps for a very good reason. Assume they can identify the computer and network at some point and go from there.

Actually it’s more accurate to say that at some point you will appear on a list of suspects because you had access to info at some point and any evidence showing you have a device that used TOR at any point will immediately put you at the top of the suspects list and by then it’s too late.

Do you no longer recommend Tails as your entry to SecureDrop? It was more complicated than just installing tor on your regular OS, but if authorities were to confiscate your hardware, there's a chance they'd be able to find traces of your activity.

Hey, Stephen, thanks for your question. We still recommend the use of Tails if possible, but recognize that it may be a barrier for non-technical users.
