We've been here before. In 2019, Mexico deployed 15,000 National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico border at Trump's demand. It had zero impact on fentanyl smuggling — because it's not migrants who are smuggling fentanyl in the overwhelming majority of cases. The fentanyl flow continued to rise each year.

So much of what Trump does is performative to make it appear as though he is “accomplishing” something that he will take credit for, when he’s really just disrupted everything & made everything harder, to “accomplish” what was already happening—and what would have gone better had he not interfered.

Also, in 2016 and 2017, there were about 6 million prescriptions each year for fentanyl. That number has come down to about 2 million now.
It’s a legally prescribed drug.

I honestly would really rather prefer that we try to bring back I.T. and related tech jobs that have been outsourced back into the country vs throwing tariffs at countries in hopes that it will bring back manufacturing. We all know the latter part isn't happening.
