If a stock market crash works as accelerationism and produces a flowering of democracy, liberty, and shared prosperity, then HOORAY! but that's really not the experience of history. Usually it just means everything is worse, with increasing pain down the socioeconomic ladder.

I don’t care about the stocks qua stocks but I do care about immiseration and all the things you like about civil liberties and human rights and unstarving children and even authoritarianism are vastly better in a rich world than a poor one
