No one that has ever lived has been truly totally free.
We choose a path that has been engineered divinely or physically and set before us.
The best we can hope for is the space to live & love comfortably
Constitutional governance can help us do that, Dictatorships cannot.
Pure capitalism is but the reflection of communism. Corporations own and control everything, even the government in capitalism. The government owns and controls everything, even the corporations in communism.
They are the extremes that need to be abolished. Democratic Socialism is the way.
Democratic Socialism is well regulated, and fair Capitalism. It brings socialist ideas such as public education for all, fire departments, affordable health care for all etc but it also prevents corporations from gaining too much power. The majority of European nations and Japan are DS nations.
Once you get past a certain age you become an indentured servant because you can’t get health coverage if you quit a job where you’re overworked, underpaid and otherwise abused.
Thing is due to corporate mergers, price fixing and collusion with retailers who have also been doing years of mergers we now have fewer consumer choices than ever before so even that didn't happen.
Freedom isn't a lofty ideal, it's a basic animal emotion. The urge to be free is why cages need locks. Even pretty basic organisms have a instinct to be free.
So forget what society tells you freedom means. Society doesn't know jack shit.
and they convinced a lot of people to work as independent contractors rather than employees to avoid paying taxes and giving workers rights and benefits and protections.
Then there’s the “right to work” states. Which is an oxymoron. Those states where an employer can fire someone for any reason at any time. Has nothing to do with worker rights.
