The other thing about the "too late" narrative?
The US Government doesn't work at social media speeds.
It just doesn't.
We're three weeks into this administration and that is NOTHING in government time

I get the instinct to say "it's too late" in response to calls to action (call your reps about thing x, show up to protest thing y). I do. But here's the thing. These are the last tools we have to preserve democracy, short of some very messy options that I refuse to romanticize. Too early to quit.

But in the last few days we've seen movement/responses to shit folks were (justifiably!) yelling about LAST week and honestly that's lightning fast for gov
And two things are true at once:
1. You can demand more and push for swifter action. You should.
2. BUT don't let it discourage you if you don't see an instant response. Large and complex machines turn slowly.
But if you're watching this awfulness at social media speeds, it can leave you open to despondency and burnout, because you'll think no response is coming when it's actually coming as fast as it humanly can.
Evil may be able to move faster, but the civil service has home court advantage.
This is not the first time a new administration has swept in thinking civil servants don't know what they're doing.
This will not be the last time civil servants prove them wrong.
