I’ve had multiple people now tell me that GPS is bad because nobody learns to navigate, and as a person who substantially predated GPS, excuse you, it is so nice not driving in circles for hours.

I swear 85% of street signs just don’t exist either. And when they pick a different color to use?! Pre GPS navigating was aggressive.

My first solo road trip: 1994, 21 years old, mid-Missouri to Memphis without so much as a map. I remember it as a great adventure. In reality I spent the wee hours driving in circles in some mighty questionable neighborhoods, crying and exhausted.

I once missed a concert I had to see for a class because the mapquest directions were so convoluted, the friend who drove me and I got lost and didn’t make it before doors closed 🙃.

I definitely remember printing off the Mapquest directions and having to stop the car to figure out if I missed the turn or not. A lot of parts of my state there wasn’t enough phone coverage to use gps up until six years ago.
