Fighting in court is important, and possibly enough given how the broader coup effort is struggling.

But that might not always be the case. Large monolithic protests are probably not smart right now, but we need to break through to people.

None of us are experts in what to do, so to a certain extent we need to just toss stuff at a wall and see what works.

Since we really don't know what to do, maybe a good idea would be to take the whole Democratic caucus to Philadelphia to publicly debate this crisis, recommend actions Democrats can take at the state level, and in general raise your profile as a locus of resistance.

In terms of institutional power, most of what we control is at the state and local level, but there is no mechanism to coordinate policy at that level.

Maybe the only thing we have is the DNC, which sets goals for the whole party after achieving consensus. We should activate that and leverage it.

So maybe Democrats in congress could work with the DNC to create a public forum where the party can debate the response to Trumpism, both now and in the long term.

Make it public, invite the media, engage party members at every level of government.
