The obsession with remaking animated films like this, kind of makes a mockery of animation as an art form, it basically treats animation like a practice run, and it is such a creatively bankrupt process. Like, animation is a vibrant medium that deserves it's due respect
It’s so bad in its way to do nothing new and taking away all creative ideas.
I mean, more than the fact that Lilo and her sister have no conflict in this trailer, Pikly is not a drag anymore, with his disguise as Jumba´s wife.
This a big level of morbid politicaly correct.
Damn it. I was actually curious to see if Dean Fleischer Camp could do ANYTHING to make this look promising. This guy directed Marcel the Shell With Shoes On. One of my favorite movies. To see this pretty much look like all the other pointless remakes is so disappointing. 😞
Because the executives (and the Disney Adults that they have catered their entire parks towards) have a crippling insecurity about indulging in cartoons (i.e. "kids media") while reveling in their own nostalgia...
agree. If it's more or less shot for shot, I don't see a huge point. But that's me as a Millennial. I think this is definitely for much younger crowds, like my 10-year-old cousin, who have absolutely no interest in 2D animated films. She won't watch anything that isn't CG. HTTYD is another story..
It's because even if the movie is 99% cgi, if they make a "live action" movie they are allowed to use cheaper non-union workers, whearas if they made fully animated films they would be required to use union workers and be forced to pay them fair wages and treat them like humans
Please don't get me started on all the horrible things they did to my favourite childhood movie. I've never cursed so much in my entire life as I did watching that dumpster fire.
Why didn’t you like it? The Little Mermaid was always my favorite too. Halle Bailey was great. I wasn’t a fan of some of the lyrical changes but I understand why they made them.
I hated Halle's riffing, it ruined the best song for me. They did both Flounder and Scuttle SO dirty. I despised Scuttle's rap. The underwater scenes were too dark. Costumes were a travesty. Nothing looked like it did in the OG movie. The only positive surprise was McCarthy as Ursula.
When Hollywood creates good, original content, people don’t show up! It’s frustrating. The top draws are sequels, comic book films, and live action remakes.
Right?? I can't stand it. I was just raving to my wife about it earlier. How are you gonna beat a beautifully hand-drawn classic with some modern CGI bs? It's a huge waste of time and money to make a worse version of a movie that already exists
Also ruined the joke. The joke is that their disguises are fucking paper-thin and terrible despite working. Giving a holo-disguise that actually makes him human ruins the joke
Mate, every live-action remake Disney makes is an insult to their original counterparts.
It's like these people and their CEO, Bob just refuses to do anything right.
I personally didn’t think the trailer looked too bad. Especially when it came to the actresses not being pale skinned like I thought they were gonna be along with them deciding to include Corbra Bubbles back in. Tho I won’t be going to see it in theaters i may pirate it or something.
While I do agree that most of these live action remakes aren’t needed, I do think the little mermaid had a big impact with the amount of little black women and or girls who were rlly happy to go see themselves within mermaids. I was really happy as well and almost cried at Halle Bailey’s performance
Double or nothing, some people bitch about Pleakley being woke without having even watched the original or TV series. All in on Disney dialing back his character so they aren't accused of being woke.
I was actually kinda happy until I saw Pleakly and Jumba at the end. Then I also found out about making Nani's skin darker and oh well... not gonna watch that movie.
Yeah. Instead of remaking their best works, they should try remake stuff that had good concepts and interesting ideas, but still ended up a little rough around the edges. Plus, there are tons of ideas that never made it out of that vault. Why not revisit them?
I agree but I will play, no pun intended, devil's advocate with Dr. Perception here.
Now consider this: financially speaking Disney is neck deep in shit and these remakes rake in cash like crazy. Therefore more shitty live action remakes will continue to be made. Diagnosis complete.
Stitch is one of my fav Disney characters! My main everyday backpack is a small Stitch loungefly that has pins on it. Stitch looks fine but everything else hurts my heart 😭

animated sequels are better than this
Give me Lilo in college
Glad it's still in TV show animation tho
The whole Disney Live-Action phase is trash.
An insult to the original animated films and those who worked on each.

I'll stop with the gambling references now.
