My gaming hot take is that I want things like hacking and lockpicking to be governed by skill checks, not minigames. My leet hacker character shouldn't have to fail due to inability to do puzzles.

Agreed. I'm generally not a fan of the random mini game stuck into a different type of game to simulate something like lockpicking. I don't really like chance skillchecks either though. I'd rather just succeed or fail consistently and have be able to gain the ability to succeed through RPG elements.
