They want us to increase military spending ?
Then stop anything to do with the U.S. Lockheed Martin F-35 and go with something from RELIABLE allies like the Swedish SAAB Gripen or the multinational Eurofighter consortium.
Hit the U.S. in their military industrial complex wallet.

Claim Canada is a "national security threat."
I would move our military into position around the auto and power plants in southwestern Ontario.
"So, we're friends now, right?" won't work any more.
Let's learn from this. The writing is on the wall. We can't trust the US, much less stay tied to it. Let's turn to new alliances, new markets and new sources.
We should not be spending federal monies to purchase military equipment from a country that wants to annex ours
With the U.S. being more adversarial in nature, there is no assurance that munitions resupply would be available in time need.
Perhaps Canada should also reconsider its American subcontractors/suppliers for the River Class warships as well.

A How about reviving the AVRO Arrow?
Why would we buy weaponry from our primary advasary and obvious security threat?
Boycott products from red / Confederate states.
ESPECIALLY boycott travel to red / Confederate states.
Eurofighters may still be an option but Saab's off the table.
I get that we're in the wild west now but I don't think there's any scenario under which the Swedes would just steal GE's engine for us and accept whatever consequences the US doled out in response. We'd have to wait for an alternative to be developed.
It depends on how far Trump pushes everyone and at this point if your producing the power plant, under license, from a country that may no longer be an ally, all bets are off.
We do not need to "Hit" but rather make the best decision for Canada at this time.
The Rafale gives a nuclear payload option if that's what you're talking about.
In that event France could base a squadron in Canada.
If you want to use the big stick to go scorched earth on someone's ass be prepared for the consequences.
