It's honestly a quirk of history that the US didn't enter WWII on the side of the Nazis.

The probability, in hindsight; was INCREDIBLY small for the entire war.

Roosevelt and a lot of Congressional Democrats, yes; the majority of Americans, I don't know. It was definitely Pearl Harbor that got most Americans onboard with the war, and Germany being Japan's ally, they were easily painted them as a threat to America.

racing to germany from normandy was critical to stem communist influence over the rest of europe. if thats what it takes to become an afterthought, then even japan became such toward the end, cruelly used as a display ground for new weapons to show the newly emerged global rival
