I’m proud to have 3 Magna Carta Barons (2 direct) in my lineage.
Not that they didn’t do terrible things themselves, but at least they were chasing one good dragon during a period when Divine Right of Kings was accepted worldwide.
Just found you, followed you . I too have 2 direct ancestors who signed the Magna Carta. King John and William Marshall. Was thrilled when I got to see it at the British Library when it was on display and my family here well before 1776 and fought in the American Revolution. You have the best feed.
Following the slogan life, liberty and happiness is what US is guided by and I wonder is that what you have now?
Why not peace, order and good governance? 🤔 Life, liberty and happiness would follow.
Booting a MAGAt solidly in the gonads is not the same thing, so don't do that. On the other hand, far be it from me to restrict someone's freedom of expression.
Depends on what kind of law; but American law has had a very long time to refine, and is generally accepted enough that it does not require major overhauls all the time. If you do want to fix laws, there's legislative processes for doing that. Overthrowing a democratic system isn't the way to go.
This Must be the Ironic Post of the Year. First she is involved with a crime that takes someones life and gets away with it THen Never Bothers to read Article 2.
..........the Ꞙüꝃin N₳Ɀls were upholding the "rule of law".... As were slave patrols....
"Rule of law" does NOT mean that you stand on the right side of history...
.
Do what benefits and uplifts ALL not just the privileged few.
Seek to be the positive chaos the world needs.
Most of you all are calling for and going to protest marches. It’s something that we must do to make it known that we’re not taking the Orange turd and his sidekick to burn down our constitution! In turn, just be careful or the Orange Turd will declare martial law and the shooting starts.
Exactly, and though there is a time and place where civil disobedience becomes necessary, it’s always best to at least attempt to fix flawed laws before breaking them. I realllllllly wish more influential people were paying attention though.
Depends though if those laws are built to reinforce oppression. Apartheid was legal in South Africa for example, and continues to be legal in Israel. These aren’t really good words of “resistance”
I Agree except...
"I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law." -MLK jr.
We’re advancing beyond the point of civil disobedience. Civil rebellion is on the horizon. Time will tell, but perhaps the time is near to refresh the tree of liberty with the blood of patriots and tyrants. The Founding Generation is watching: how does the nation they bequeathed respond?
if you genuinely think that any legal procedure can bring down the current reigime you are delusional. theres not going to be another election. if we want change, we do it ourselves.
Trump and MAGA fail to comprehend that the Rule of Law is actually the goal of Democracy, not a means to achieve power and wealth at the expense of everything else, to be discarded when not serving that goal.
I don't think that maga gives two shits about democracy. There are overt fascists and authoritarians very prominent in the administration who would be delighted to see the end of democracy.
Why can’t people quite grok this? RFK Jnr’s ‘camps’ are for… people. Look for high-profile members of the opposition suddenly having issues with their “psychiatric medication” & booking themselves into a farm. You know the one that there’s no phones or screens at. That you can stay in for 3-4 years…
Every trans person they can find. They've already said that being trans is a psychological disorder. From there they go after the socialists, trade unionists, jews, BIPOC... it's an old playbook. The Nazis were big on organic farming too. They had a wellness cult. This was all planned.
This is a full statement of intention. American Democrats and American democrats should be very worried about this and going public very loud to defend democracy before it's too late. You can't hide from this. If you do, it will come for you. The world is watching and ready to help but you must lead
They're coming for everyone. The VPOTUS used his first overseas speech to support international fascism. Get ready now. Join a local antifascist group. Mainstream social democratic parties won't cut it, they are power addicts who will bend to the right with the wind.
Napoleon died in exile on the isle of St. Helene when he was 51. Bad guys finish last and in disgrace. Trump never studied anything. He just admires what he thinks are powerful men. Hitler killed himself. Saddam Hussein was basically beaten to death by an angry mob. So was Mussolini. And so it goes
No I got the right guy. He was pulled out of an underground "spider hole" hideaway tunnel and brutally beaten. He had 3 sons just as horri le as he was.. He was later hung
The previous poster was just saying Saddam wasn't beaten to death. Hanged eventually after a trial in Iraq with Iraqi judges, yes, but not beaten by the US forces who captured him. I believe you're thinking of Muammar Gaddafi, who definitely was beaten and tortured by rebel forces before being shot.
I remember Hussein being pulled out a hole, and beaten. But, there so many Midfle East brutes who also met a well dezrtved demise I could have easily gotten them mixed up. I remember the being yanked out of an underground lair part. And a bloody faced Hussein
He was pulled out and maybe restrained by US military members for a moment or something, but no, he was not beaten. When asked who he was, Hussein answered honestly, and they took him in custody. There are news clips from 2003 about it. Here's some archive footage: https://youtu.be/l1sK0_-2ngs?feature=shared
If you get to the nubs of the matter, you'll find the issues of fairness, equity, etc. are even more important, as is the 'connected to reality' factor.
In Georgia, you are a “criminal” if you give water to someone waiting in line to vote. Rule of law not always a good thing. I think you are trying to tell me to STFU.
Absolutely—those who stand firm in upholding the rule of law are the true defenders of their country. Without it, everything else falls apart. Integrity and justice are what keep the foundation strong.
That's why tRumpy and #MoscowMitch worked so hard to stack the courts with incompetent loyalists in his first term. They'll be the ones deciding what "the rule of law" is.
Get out your marching shoes and start protesting civil disobedience, fighting back. Listen and learn from the Greatest and Silent generation who fought for civil and equal rights and stopped the Vietnam war. You must do things that cost governments money, get arrested, shut down streets.
Start talking to people like Jane Fonda from the Silent generation. You must march, get arrested, hinder traffic, think Vietnam war, Kent State, civil rights, recent protests in South Korea, they all worked because they got out into the streets and protested.
Yes, taken it to the Streets! Mass Demonstrations work. Call the TV, Radio and print media to cover it. The more exposure you get the more followers you'll get as well. Make sure you have the permission from the local Police so there's no misunderstanding. Free Speech is protected by the Law!
So much coming at us that it's hard to understand and keep track of. This morning, I came across this discussion with Heather Cox Richardson that breaks it down, offering suggestions to move forward. Please pass it on to wherever your republican friends and family reside. https://youtu.be/f-78R0monV4?feature=shared

Assholes always get things ass backwards.
In world of growing cruelty and indecency, be kind and decent;
in the face of simple malice, be complicated, and
against tyranny, become ungovernable.
Donald should be in prison.
He is a danger to any chance of a civilized society.
It’s unsurprising the ND community smells malevolence from a mile away. Prey knows predator.
Without the judicial branch of the triad, it’s dystopian.
Next you'll be telling us: "A President isn't a King" or "No man is above the law".
All nice ideas, but:
Well done, Amanda.
I am really happy with how this came out.
Someone should probably go in and audit that.
Sometimes it's not.
When not, the 'rule of law' needs to be examined.
Should the examination yield a 'not so honest' result, those who uphold do disservice.
If you get to the nubs of the matter, you'll find the issues of fairness, equity, etc. are even more important, as is the 'connected to reality' factor.
'Rule of law' arguments are just rationalizations.
George Washington said, “The army must serve the country, but not rule it”
When some wanted him king.
Anything further ... in an age of democracy, I can't see many volunteers rushing to risk their lives on the barricades.
Civil rights, equal rights, Vietnam war, marches on Washington. Recent protests in South Korea.
The powers occupying the White House are rejecting rule of law and attempting to change them without our consent. This is tyranny.
We are nothing without due process and the rule of law.
Federal judges should refuse to hear suits filed by the Trump administration. See how long they can function without a judiciary.
Said by me, this 16th day of February in the year of our lord 2025.
Now to get the lawless orange Cheeto out of the top law enforcement position in the country.
Those who wreck their country deserve jail
Can anyone name something bad that Hitler did in 1933, where Trump is not currently attempting something similar?
Revolution is the solution.
