Global played a midnight gig on the Thurs at Toad Hall 2017. The tent was full of people sitting on the floor talking to each other. By the end of the second song everyone was up and dancing to the earthy folky trance. V unexpected! Guitar, wailing vocals, drums + a guy with a box of wires! Amazing!

Mad Dog McCrea last year. Left my phone at the tent, no guide, my friends all went off to see someone inane. Wandering round the site semi lost and remembered there was something on in Croissant Neuf. Absolutely packed, fantastic atmosphere, ended up dancing jigs with strangers. Magical night.

Master Musicians of Joujuka, outside of the Rabbit Hole, 2011. Had wandered off from Beyonce as I wasn't feeling it. Joined their set about 20 minutes in, they stopped an hour and a half later, no amplification, just them and their drums and pipes.

Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs on the Avalon stage. Only went in to get out of the rain in 2015 and they became my opening act ever since. Shame they weren’t there last year but fingers crossed this year!

We chose to see English Teacher open the festival in ‘22 as the Emerging Talents winners, rather than go with the flow to see Libertines on Other Stage.

The first time we saw Mik Artistik it was a VERY wet Thursday and we had dived into a tent in the Avalon vicinity to take shelter from a particularly aggressive downpour just as he was coming on stage. He was brilliant of course, and it became a Glasto tradition to seek him out!

The Syrian orchestra that Damon Albarn had put together in 2016. It was muddy, the morning of Brexit and everyone was in shock. Damon came on and did a speech and then his wonderful orchestra played. People were crying but it felt so unified 🩷

I remember seeing Hawksley Workman and the Wolves in the Acoustic Tent, about a hundred years ago. The band swapped instruments every song - which is showing off - but my most abiding memory was of Workman doing a costume change mid-song, whilst singing and playing.

Super wet days are the days you take a chance on something random in a tent rather than just sitting in the sun with a pint of cider. The wet/mud was also the reason we saw Coldplay after many years of resisting and we (annoyingly) loved them 😂

Yep 2016, love that you know exactly what night I meant! We had seen Beck and found ourselves quite near the front… we couldn’t face trudging anywhere else by that point of that weekend and I had a bottle of vodka in my bag so we just stayed where we were. One of the best nights I’ve had there!
