Yeah, one optimistic thing I've heard from Dems since November is that when he's gone, nobody on deck has his combo of powers. For example: It's been insanely hard for Ds to convince voters that Trump (synonymous with "rich" since 1980) can be bought by donors. But Vance? Much easier.

Super compelling convo that left with me with two thoughts:
1. Trump can capitalize on attention (negative or positive), in a way basically no other Republican can, in part bc of Trump’s brand prior to being a politician. So what happens to the GOP post-Trump, when no one else has the rizz?

The whole "the rich are playing by different rules. I know because I'm rich" is a compelling argument when its true and you're basically 50% running on accelerationism.
He's like a 4 quadrant blockbuster movie that appeals to different groups for different reasons. God willing it will be extremely difficult to emulate.
If we and him survive the next four years he will try everything in his power to overturn the 22nd amendment to stay in the oval office.
It's Trump's "Rev. Jim Jones" charisma. His people are drawn in.
Rather than look at some optimistic post-Trump future I'd like to see the Dems blocking right-wing laws, instead of rubber stamping them because they don't give a shit about the people who voted for them.

Downside is that sometimes it sounds smug to everybody!
(Matters less bc this also describes Hillary Clinton.)

No other current Republicans have this ability.
Best bet will be passing judicial ethics reform if Dems get power again.
That said, I can’t imagine him actually throwing support behind anyone (even his own children) while he’s still alive to accept adoration and attention.
Maybe nobody will do it as well, but they'll be looking for the next-best thing in 2028.
Great piece on this:
