Trump and Musk and MAGA are acting like they’re FDR imposing a reverse New Deal on the country. But they’re doing it without the electoral mandate. Dems won big in every election from 1930 to 1936. Trump barely won the 2024 election and MAGA has a three seat House majority.

What keeps narrow R majorities in line?
1) Fear. (Many kinds, incl "or we'll all hang separately".)

2) Greed. (They like some of the policy loot Trump's smash-and-grab gang will bring home.)

3) No place to run. (D's own fear & greed prevents striking bargains with potential line-crossers.)
