Reactions against reactionaries tend to be quite left leaning. Centrists never make for a revolution. But it’s when they team up things really start happening. However, I don’t see that happening any time soon. 🤔 Interesting times indeed.

One thing’s for sure: it’s easy to talk to people who already agree with you, but getting new people involved, or those who might not agree with 100% of what you’re saying? That’s something that most people who’ll show up to a rally aren’t willing to do. That’s why these movements often fizzle

I hope you’re right. But the reality is most people still won’t get involved. The idea that turning out to protests and town halls will somehow activate everyone to our side and give us the results we want is wishful thinking, especially when the Dems can’t even get their act together in private

The Democratic Party is less than worthless as @schumer.senate.gov demonstrated. Dems currently in charge are a liability to their constituents and the nation.

Much depends on how Trump plays his hand with Social Security. I'm not sure if they are testing the waters or are hellbent on ending it.

Probably both. As far as third party vs transforming the Dems into a Prog Left party, I doubt either is feasible until people trust Progressives with their economic livelihoods—which they don’t, yet. I’m also not totally convinced that Dems weren’t facing a lose-lose scenario with the shutdown

Using myself as an example. Being labelled a Progressive, once a derogatory term to moderate like myself, seems like a small price to pay while supporting members addressing the crisis at hand. Their message should be appealing to jaded Republican voters too. The old playbook is out the window.

Centrism as such is mantal disorder, really. Because like for what exactly you, as a centrist really stand for? for like middle point between right and left? What if right is pure fascist and left is, at best lobotomized social democrats.

Problem is you give little finger, it will eat whole arm.
