Cutleaf #Vitex negundo. The flowers will appear a few at a time and extend into autumn. The entire shrub is herbally aromatic and #pollinators love it. In colder areas it dies back to a large woody #caudex.

Thanks! I kinda want an already grown tree. waiting for a failing liquid amber[70y.o.+/-] to get out of the way.. So far only the neighbors gate and my power line caught one branch..others managed to miss cars and kids in strollers.

A bee!!! My yard as been utterly devoid of bees this year. Most years in the past the thyme ground cover is swarming with bees...I've seen only one this year.
I remember using the leaves of V. negundo in steaming hot water for nasal as well as chest congestions. Thanks grandma. Years later it was a part of my valuable herbarium collection.
Grandmother planted this in 1964. After 15 years it reached 10 ft by 15 wide. Here in zone 7 it has never frozen back and we keep it in a single trunk form, just high enough to walk under.
I used to have this, it was hardier than vitifolia and covered in insects when it bloomed. had to cut it back, overgrew the space. Very hard wood. My vitifolia died back this past winter in a combination of early hard fall freezes (2) and a late winter rapid cold snap after a warm spell, showy
